Citenook Licence Agreement
Last updated: 2 October 2026
This agreement is between you and Citenook ("we") for the Citenook app. By installing or using Citenook you agree to it. If you don't agree, don't use Citenook.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Citenook on the number of Macs your licence key allows, for personal or business use. A trial, if offered, may be used only to evaluate Citenook.
What you may not do
You may not copy, sell, rent or share Citenook or its licence keys; get around the licence check; reverse engineer it except where the law allows; or use it to break the law or anyone's rights.
Your content
Your files, questions and answers are yours. Citenook processes them on your Mac, and sends passages to an online AI service only when you choose one. You are responsible for having the right to use the files you add, and for what you do with answers.
AI answers
Answers are written by AI models and can be wrong or incomplete, even with citations. Check important answers against the cited sources. Citenook is not legal, medical, financial or other professional advice.
Services and models you choose
- Online AI services (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenRouter) are used with your own key and account. Their terms and prices apply, and you pay them directly. We are not responsible for their services.
- Models on your Mac are downloaded by you from Hugging Face and come under their own licences, shown in Settings: Qwen and Mistral models under the Apache License 2.0, and Apple Intelligence under Apple's macOS licence.
- Gemma models. Gemma is provided under and subject to the Gemma Terms of Use found at ai.google.dev/gemma/terms. If you download and use a Gemma model, you agree to those terms and to Google's Gemma Prohibited Use Policy (ai.google.dev/gemma/prohibited_use_policy), which forbid, among other things, using Gemma to break the law; to harm, harass or deceive people; to create or spread child sexual abuse material; to generate malware or attack systems; to facilitate weapons or violence; to give unlicensed professional advice that could cause harm; to impersonate people or present Gemma's output as human-written to deceive; or for automated decisions that affect people's rights without human review. You may not use Citenook with Gemma for any such use.
- Web pages, YouTube videos and Notion are added at your request; respect their owners' terms and rights.
Open-source software
Citenook includes open-source software under the MIT and Apache 2.0 licences, listed with their full licence texts in Settings → About → Acknowledgements. Those licences apply to those components.
Updates
Citenook can check for and install updates. Updates are covered by this agreement unless they come with new terms.
Purchases and refunds
Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments. Refunds follow the policy shown on the purchase page.
Warranty
Citenook is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise it will be error-free or that answers will be correct.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or lost profits, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for Citenook in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be limited.
Ending this agreement
You may stop using Citenook at any time. This licence ends if you break this agreement; then you must stop using Citenook.
Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of India. Courts in India have jurisdiction, without taking away consumer rights you have where you live.
